...wow, really? Huh.

So it's been a while since the last post, but luckily not as long as some of my other breaks have been. My birthday was two days ago, and it went rather well.

The 'rewrite' gang surprised me with a lunch meetup and gifts, which I really didn't expect...especially on the actual day! I thought for sure they'd both be too busy.

Nothing fancy for lunch, we did pizza and I got to bring home the leftovers. :)

While we were out, we decided to go browse the toy store, and I bought a few new pony blind bags. Five new friends for my display shelves!

As for what the girls brought, well, I'm sure I won't have to worry about buying more starlight mints for a long time, haha. I also got a bar of really nice chocolate (dark with raspberry, sounds wonderful~) and a small bottle of sparkling apple cider.

The crowning glory, however, is the wonderful Princess Twilight plush they created with love for me at the local Build-A-Bear. She currently sits in my room, staring happily at my well-stocked bookshelves. I think she'll enjoy being here. :)

(Hey, with our group? I'm the Twilight, so it all fits.)

Not only did I get a party offline, but I got a party in my Animal Crossing game too! Rather fun to get gifts and celebration from my villagers. Quite a day~

In other news, the house we've been working so hard to clean out? Finally done! The last truckload was brought home this week, so we're officially out and the new owners no longer have to deal with us being around. I finally have my lamp, which I plan on giving a nice coat of paint to and a new plug before I bring it in and set it up.

Also, I've been working on my writing more. It feels good to be spinning stories again, and when I feel ready, I'll start posting chapters of this latest piece to FDD. Things have been quiet in there again, so I suppose I should get back to it. Even if nobody else joins or posts anything, I rather like the fact I've gained enough courage to post my work online. It feels like a step in the right direction. :)

Oh hey, this is another milestone post! Like with the others, I declare this an open-request post. Maybe we can get to high comment counts, maybe not, but if anyone has questions they want answered or just want to chat, or request ficlets, or whatever, drop a message.

Let's hope I can keep going for a long time!

~Virgo

Last season was basically the endless bj for Kurt and Rachel's wonderfulness, and the eternal love of Rachel/Finn and Kurt/Blaine.

Blaine proposed to Kurt this season and he accepted. Blaine is still a senior in high school.

...wut. I get that people get excited about pairings, but for Merlin's sake. Some people need to realize their 'twoo wub' pairing is actually abusive and/or underage unrealistic BS that isn't getting called out (I don't care as much when someone with common sense steps in and says 'knock this crap off, thx.'). No, I don't give a crap how 'cute' they are together. Bad. Bad writers.

Oh, you have no idea. Blaine cheated on Kurt while he was in New York, REPEATEDLY; Kurt dumped him, they reconciled as friends at Christmas, and then Blaine became convinced that they were actually soul mates after they slept together at Will and Emma's wedding.

Rachel started a new relationship with a guy, and then the writers derailed it by having him be secretly prostituting himself to pay his way through college. Because they couldn't come up with a legitimate reason for them to be broken up. Rachel found out and slut-shamed him, and then Finn found out and beat the shit out of him for "touching [Finn's] future wife."

I...wat. I'm kind of thankful the show put off a strong enough vibe of 'nope' for me after the first episode that I stopped watching. Cheating is BS. Running away from your supposed SO because you can't handle your own problems is BS. I'm in kind of a grey area with slut-shaming, so I can't really comment there, but they could have done almost anything else to make the new guy a bad choice for her.

I hate slut-shaming period, but the problem I have is that he's doing this because he can't afford his tuition for the drama college they go to otherwise (something I can sympathize with because JESUS, TUITION). Like it or not, he's being forced into the situation, and Rachel was completely unsympathetic. Instead of giving him the support he would have needed in that situation, even if just as a friend, she decided to make him feel bad about himself.

Also, when she found out about Finn beating the shit out of him? She was happy that he cared so much.

Oh, also, to be clear: Rachel and the other guy were NOT in an exclusive relationship. They had agreed on that.

I think it's not really another person's business what another person does in his/her private life unless they're in a relationship together, and/or it's clearly unhealthy for one or both parties but for some reason one or both are oblivious or in denial. Even then, you can only tell someone your feelings, not force them to do or not do something. I think that in her shoes, I would have broken it off with him because I'd rather not be in a relationship with someone who has a lot of partners (if that's their preference, cool. It's not mine, though), but would have tried to help him if he was unhappy with his situation, even if that help meant being a shoulder to cry on. Also, the beating up doesn't sound cool or warranted. If it was used as a tool for character growth and everyone got punished for bad behavior and learned something, okay, but that sounds ham-fisted. And okay, the edit changes some things. I can see her getting upset that 'not exclusive' turned into 'I had sex with fifty women in the past two weeks', but you don't condone someone beating that person up. No.

Also, Fifty Shades made me want to punch a koala.

oh gods, Fifty Shades. Virgo and I have been reading a sporking of the series. It's part-way into book two now. Nothing is happening. Nothing. Where is the plot.

You're reading that for plot? ...Oh damn, there goes my drink all over the screen.

Well, I sure as hell aren't reading it for the terrible porn. >>

I think that's why most people are reading it, bad or not. Expecting plot out of something like that is like expecting Tom Cruise not to be a basket of crazy. No one's innocent of bad writing from time to time, but you can't expect silk from a pig's ear.

I've read porn with more plot than this series. I've WATCHED porn with more plot than this series. There is paper-thin plot for porn and there is this, and the TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, MECHANICAL porn is not making things better.

Mmm, yes, spitefic. Need to finish my crossover with TWEWY.

Most of what I've read or seen is...pretty bad for 'plot.' But if the author can screw up something that's bad to begin with, that takes talent. Not sure what kind of talent, but still.

God. So yeah, fans of the series have opted to not actually read the pages between sex scenes and they just make up events in their heads. Like Hellspawn taking Ana to Paris for breakfast as a first date and stuff like that.

You can't see it, but if this was RL I'd be making the 'it went over my head' gesture. Although, skipping the sex scenes in that book must make it in some regards a better book by the sound of it.

'Hellspawn Ana Paris.' Just for a basis for explanation, I heard about 50 Shades, the very basic premise, and BS therein and blocked it as strongly from my mind as possible. It's all foreign to me.

Ah. The main characters are named Christian Grey and Ana(stasia) Steele. The sporking we've been reading has taken to calling Grey "Hellspawn" because... well, they compared his backstory and actions to a certain serial killer and it was a near-perfect match. Also, he repeatedly rapes and beats Ana.

Yeah, Hellspawn is super-rich, and takes her to a fancy dinner... somewhere in Washington. I don't really remember where because, you know, lack of plot. Anyway, since people haven't actually be reading the book, they just spun a first date out of thin air and decided he took her to Paris on a jet or something, I guess.

From: [identity profile] fic-for-all.livejournal.com
...Because raping and beating your date is awesome, amirite? I do remember seeing something saying Grey is basically a sociopathic, abusive twit who women still find to be 'sexy' for some very obscure, unknown and likely just as sociopathic reason. His actor for the movie adaptation apparently just stepped down, too.

From: [identity profile] amylan.livejournal.com
Stepped down. Are you shitting me :D DOES HE UNDERSTAND WHAT A PIECE OF SHIT GREY IS

Yeah, Grey repeatedly manipulates Ana into doing what he wants without regard for what she wants. "No" is basically a challenge for him to make her give in, and the book actually uses the words "fuck [Ana] into submission." The way she talks about when Grey beats her for "BDSM" makes it very clear she's not enjoying it, no matter what the author seems to think. And Grey repeatedly uses the threat of beating her more to force her to let him fuck her.

Apparently (although I didn't read the article), he did so for 'other reasons.' I'd personally do that over a hangnail if my agent convinced me to sign up for such a POS role in the first place, but there you go.

Also, date rape comes to mind. Strongly. Please tell me she doesn't marry this shithead and the whole thing becomes marital rape. Please.
